FAQs

Q?

What is a resource consent?

A.

A resource consent is a permission from a Council to work outside District, Regional or Unitary Plan rules.

Q?

Why should I engage a planner to help me with this process?

A.

Planners offer expertise in the area of (among other things) resource consents.  This expertise allows for your proposal to be put forward to the Council in a manner which it has the highest prospect of receiving consent while minimising time delays.

Q?

How long will it take?

A.

It depends on the complexity of your project.  Generally however, straight forward consents will be processed by Council in 4-6 weeks.  Approximately 2-4 weeks lead in time should be allowed to have the application documents prepared prior to lodgement with Council (depending on project complexity).

Q?

I have a non-compliant building or use on my property – can you help?

A.

Yes.  We specialise in non-compliant buildings and uses.  We work closely with other professionals to ensure that building and resource consent matters are dealt with concurrently.

Q?

What will it cost?

A.

Email us about your proposal today to receive a fee proposal for your project.

Q?

Can you help me with the Unitary Plan?

A.

Yes. The Auckland Unitary Plan is now Operative in Part.  It will continue to remain Operative in Part until all appeals are settled (expected to be mid 2018).   This means some applications must be still be considered (in part) under existing District and Regional Plans. We can assist with identifying these aspects of your project as well as making a full assessment of your proposal under the Unitary Plan.
